The Scorpion’s rugged, adaptable design has changed little from its origins at the dawn of human interstellar colonization. This vehicles has remained in service due a combination of affordability, simplicity, and versatility that is difficult to match by other – supposedly superior – designs. The Scorpion’s functional uses are numerous and varied, though the UNSC uses it predominantly for direct assault, localized defense, and anti-armor operations. The new M820 model of the storied Scorpion is half the mass of the old M808, yet has nearly identical firepower and armor protection.
The M290-M “Gungoose” is the latest military version of the popular Mongoose all-terrain vehicle produced by AMG Transport Dynamics. Fitted with two grenade launchers, the Gungoose retains the Mongoose’s famous maneuverability while allowing for Spartan drivers to conduct harassing hit-and-run strikes.
Available in a bewildering number of models and unique variants, the D-79 Pelican dropship is the UNSC’s most recognizable troop and materiel transport. These workhorse craft are equally at home in orbit and atmosphere, and have even been pressed into use for short interplanetary trips.
The Warthog is the UNSC's primary ground transportation vehicle, with the M12B Force Application Vehicle (FAV) serving as the most ubiquitous variant. Fitted with a full-rotation turret and heavy machine gun, the M12B FAV serves as a multi-role combat vehicle that can engage enemy light armor and aircraft with equal efficacy.
